Luiz Zanotello - A METRIC BELOW DISTANCE
Luiz explores the contrasting visions of engineer Johann Gottfried Tulla, who aimed to straighten the Rhine for navigation and flood prevention, and poet Adelheid von Stolterfoth, who romanticized the river in her poetry. Through an examination of their works, he aims to liberate the river from its constraints and express the environmental changes it faces today. His installation features random recordings of the Rhine and an algorithm transforming Stolterfoth’s poems into a freer form. A workshop accompanies the project, exploring new poetic structures that celebrate the river as a flowing entity.
